Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope is a film that, despite enormous production problems, a modest budget, and widespread pessimism among the crew, emerged as one of the greatest miracles in cinema history. With a young, inexperienced cast and a great deal of improvisation, Lucas…
Dune (1984) “Dune” from 1984 is a cult science fiction film by David Lynch which, despite financial failure and mixed reviews, still maintains its fan base to this day Lynch lost control over the final cut of the film due to studio interference, and as a result the finished product never reflected his original vision…
Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith Obi-Wan: It’s over Anakin, I have the high ground. Anakin Skywalker: You underestimate my power! Obi-Wan: Don’t try it. And we’ve reached end of one trilogy… “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”. George Lucas immediately started working on this title after finishing…
RoboCop “Dead or alive, you are coming with me!” – RoboCop Director Paul Verhoeven didn’t have much success creating films at the beginning of his career (except the short series “Floris” with Rutger Hauer). And then 1987 happened, significant for many reasons. 😁 And among those significant events was also his film “RoboCop,” which…
Halo “There’s another difference between Spartans and marines…marines can be killed” – Professor “What’s the point in saving humanity if we’re going to give up our own?” – Miranda Keyes It’s interesting I started watching “Halo” still (I think) beginning of 2023 on “SkyShowtime,” and reached some seventh-eighth episode and then stopped watching. Neon Genesis Evangelion “If Neon Genesis Evangelion were a person, I would need serious professional help after working with them” – Sigmund Freud (Viennese neurologist, considered the father of modern psychotherapy) Saying that “Neon Genesis Evangelion” is a serious mindfuck wouldn’t be an exaggeration. Although the series came out almost 28 years ago, this…
Cyberpunk Edgerunners “Cyberpunk Edgerunners” (at least I had that impression) just suddenly appeared on Netflix. If there was any hype around its announcement, I missed it. However, this isn’t bad news. Just as it unexpectedly appeared, it also (somewhat unexpectedly) won the sympathy of audiences and film critics. The series is set in the world…
Love Death and Robots (season 3) As I mentioned in my review of the second season of the anthology series “Love Death and Robots,” the third season appeared (at least for me) unexpectedly on Netflix. After the phenomenal first season, the second had a small, let’s say, drop in quality (though visual progress was obvious)….
Love Death and Robots (season 2) For some reason I forgot to do a review of the second season of the phenomenal anthology mini-series “Love Death and Robots” (hereafter: LDR). And just when I was thinking about reviewing it, Netflix unexpectedly served me the third season too! 😀 For those who don’t know, this paragraph…
Cowboy Bebop (Netflix) This might sound like a cliché, but I had a feeling that “Cowboy Bebop Netflix” (let’s christen the 2021 Netflix version this way) wouldn’t be a faithful adaptation of the original legendary 1998 anime series of the same name. Maybe because I was influenced by the film (trilogy/pentalogy) adaptation of the equally…
